You will be riding on the abandoned Cowichan Subdivision
Canadian National Railway corridor; expect a wide
range of surface conditions, from hard packed gravel
to loose, unconsolidated railway ballast. This trail
is generally unsuitable for street bikes, and will
require a bike with wider tires for soft surfaces. |

 The
Cowichan Valley is located on the east coast of Vancouver
Island and is a one-hour drive north of Victoria and a 45-minute
drive south of Nanaimo. The Cowichan Valley includes the towns
of Shawnigan Lake, Mill Bay, Cobble Hill, Cowichan Bay, Duncan,
Maple Bay, Chemainus, Crofton, Ladysmith, Lake Cowichan, Honeymoon
Bay and Youbou.
With a
rich history in forestry, fishing and farming, a strong First
Nations culture and amazing scenery, the Cowichan Valley offers
a wide range of exciting tourism and recreation opportunities.
